view

My living room was the focus this morning. I swept, mopped, dusted and washed the inside of all the windows.... It's hard to imagine that this won't be the view from my yellow chair anymore...
I am hoping to get the whole house finished in the next few days. If I am MIA, it's because I am knee deep in boxes and dust bunnies that have been hiding for years.

Home

After our house hunting weekend trip, we are still without a definite place to live. The Mister is currently back up the mountain attempting to settle it once and for all. I am actually shocked that I am ok with not seeing a potential house personally. I suppose that I am going to have to take his word for it and rely on some pictures. I have full confidence that he knows what will work for us... even if it is only temporary...
here is to a lovely little rental with a view....

sick day

This cute little gift set is found here.
We are all stuffed up here at my house. I think today is going to include a lot of lounging, TV, tea, books, magazines and maybe some popcorn in bed.
What is your favorite thing to do on a sick day?

Asheville

This weekend we spend some time house hunting. We left the big guy with Grandma, and the mister, baby and I took off up the mountain.
We were really hoping to find just one option that would work. We actually found two options that we would be really happy with. So that made the trip really exciting.

This picture is at lunch in this random development that doesn't really seem to fit in with the rest of the area at all...

Darling Mister G. decided that he needed the biggest drink ever on the way home. Needless to say, we made multiple stops on the way back.

so.....

In sixteen short days we will be packed up, picked up and driving to a new home in the mountains of North Carolina. Um... yeah.

This is happening really quickly. I have known that moving might be a possibility for quite some time, but the actuality of it is a little more than I might have thought.

We are jetting off (not literally "jetting", more like driving several hours) this weekend to *hopefully* find a wonderful home to live in for the next few months/year. Wish us luck. We might be getting ourselves into a bit more than we could ever have imagined.
At least the landscape is lovely....

food.

Caution: this post might make you extremely hungry.

Last week's cooking experiments were interesting to say the least. They were also delicious. I started with a Real Simple cookbook. It seemed a simple enough place to start... (at least the name made me think it would be)
I found a few recipes that looked delicious and I was not disappointed. First I tried the pierogis with cabbage and apples. Yum!
We like pierogis at our house, and I have always lacked good ideas for side items to pair with them. This recipe was a perfect combination for the rather plain taste of the store bought pierogis. Stephen even gave it his approval.

Then we attempted the chicken and bok choy stir fry, another excellent dish. I had never used bok choy in any of my cooking. However, it was simple enough... and I MIGHT have had a second and third helping. (don't judge me)

I was slightly disappointed by the lack of leftovers, but that might actually be a good thing. I was really impressed by these two recipes and will probably be trying out one or two more in the weeks to come.
