tuckered out

Apparently, I have been wearing my kids out this week. Last night at dinner I turned to see Harry like this....
And yes, he is only wearing a diaper. That's how we roll.

etsy love

Cold and rainy days make me want to window shop on Etsy. These are some of my favorite finds from today.

With super short hair, it's always nice to have something to make it feel a bit girly.

How cute would this be above West's crib?
This makes me think that I want to have a farm and raise chickens (not really...)
Tiny plaid, bow earrings? Yes, please!

What are your favorite things this fall?
(1,2,3,4)

The time not window shopping was spent playing with a fun two year old, doing laundry, trying to get West to take a nap and making dinner.

family

I miss my family SO much right now it hurts. I miss my mom and my sisters. I miss having someone do something with pretty much whenever I needed it. I miss having someone come just sit at my house so that I didn't lose my mind being with a two year old all day every day.
I was so lucky to have that. I would like to think that I never took advantage of it, but that can't be true. It was so easy to do almost anything knowing that there were at least two people that I could call whenever I needed a break.
The sister closest to my age, Anna, has been gone for about ten months. She graduated from school in May of 09 and left in December to teach in Israel. I miss her like crazy. Sometimes she would come over around noon and help clean, play with Harry then cook dinner. I was pregnant then, and my pregnancies are pretty brutal. I didn't really have the energy or ability to do everything that I needed to do. So she would come over and take care of everything that I couldn't.
Dusty pretty much took over after she left. After Westley was born and my hands were so much more than full, she would come over all the time and do whatever I needed. She never complained. Once in a while I would come home and she would have cleaned up and just be sitting on the couch watching tv. She would go get coffee with me, watch the dumb movies my husband wouldn't, listen to all of my ridiculousness.
My family are my best friends. It's really just that simple.
I cried last night for the first time since we have been here. It is going to be so different not having someone just show up at the house almost every day of the week. I am going to miss it so much.
This is Anna and Harry last October picking out pumpkins

Two of my absolute favorite people.

I love you guys and miss you soooo much.

work in progress

This is going to be my new fall wreath. It's still got a ways to go, but I found a bit of time to work on it while the boys were napping. I really like the color combination. The flowers are just a bit of an old t-shirt and some felt scraps. I am on the lookout for a few more accents, but I think it will stay pretty plain. Just thought I would give you a sneak peak at what I have been up to while the boys sleep.

monday

I woke up to a rainy, drap Monday morning.
I guess today will just have to be spent playing with this handsome fella (who is 7 months as of today) and his brother

and listening to some lovely music... like this

clocks

There are obviously things that I am going to have to get used to being in a new place. One thing that I simply can't get used to is not having a clock in the living room. Our old cable box had the time displayed. The new one just has the channel number... (not very helpful). After a week, I have come to the conclusion that I can't handle not having a clock in here. After rummaging around on the internet for a pretty time piece, these are some of my favorites.

I love the little birdy!

This one is soooo classic and pretty in black. It would go so well with our Audrey above the fireplace. This is just amazing!

This one reminds me of a really old high school classroom. Who doesn't love that? (At least after you've already done your time in school)

smiley's

Today we ventured out as a family to Smiley's Flea Market in Fletcher, NC. Apparently it is a much bigger deal than we anticipated. It took almost 2 hours to meander through the outside section, and we decided that it wouldn't be worth the effort to venture inside due to the fact that we had forgotten to bring a stroller for Harry. As a whole, it was quite an experience. We did manage to find a local farmer's table and bought some apples and a gallon of fresh apple cider.
This giant truck was parked right behind us. We obviously felt that it was picture worthy.
Harry was really into the cider.

And didn't want to leave even after we started making our way to the car.

Our awesome local pink lady apples that will be finding their way into a pie and possibly some muffins.

feeling the season

Harry has been amazed by Halloween due to Nick Jr. showing every Halloween episode ever.

So.... we did some decorating. He loves it. Every time he sees the mantel he says "Harry's Halloween party!" Oh, the simple things.

I found this shop on etsy. I bought the pdf file to download and print out the individual triangles then simply sewed them onto some orange and black ribbon. Pretty simple.

I love the glittery crow. I found it at Michaels for about $2.00. The black Halloween sign was all of $.50 and a thrift shop. The fake spider web was another thrifty find.

I am pretty stoked about Halloween this year. Harry is really excited about dressing up like Buzz Lightyear (His choice).... We are going to downtown Hendersonville on the 30th, where all of the shop owners will be dressed up and handing out candy. We will have a blast.

interruption

Our unpacking, breaking down boxes, cleaning and being slightly overwhelmed at all times was interrupted by the App State football game on Saturday.
I must really love him just to drop everything and tailgate for about 8 hours....

My lovely sister was a peach and drove all the way up the mountain to watch our kiddos so that we could spend the day together.

goodbye house

Pictures by Holly Dwan

These are the last days we will be at this house. My home. Our home.
This is the first house we bought. This is where both of my sons came home to from the hospital.
This is where we have laughed, cried, perhaps yelled once or twice...
This has been a great home. I am certainly going to miss it.

view

My living room was the focus this morning. I swept, mopped, dusted and washed the inside of all the windows.... It's hard to imagine that this won't be the view from my yellow chair anymore...
I am hoping to get the whole house finished in the next few days. If I am MIA, it's because I am knee deep in boxes and dust bunnies that have been hiding for years.
