another baby gift

      Geez. I can hardly keep up with everything going on right now. Between holidays, babies being born, and everyday things that need to be done, I am pretty sure that I am going to pass out one of these days.... probably while buying Christmas decorations at Target.

     ANYHOW... I made yet another baby quilt for a sweet little boy due sometime in mid-January.

I am a huge fan of the orange, brown, and blues. Hopefully this will keep that little guys toesies warm this winter.

Also, I started cutting out pieces for our own little guy's quilt. I am still unsure about just what pattern (if any) I am going to go with.... I have pinned a ton of quilts for inspiration. You can see them here if you like. My only real goal is to be done with it before the baby gets here. I don't care if I am still sewing in between contractions... (HA!)

I took a quick instagram photo of the pieces before West ran across them... but I am pretty sure that I am in love with the colors and patterns.

Busy busy busy...

   I have just entered the third trimester of this pregnancy (don't expect a belly picture any time soon), and it hit me like a mac truck. Basically as soon as week 27 rolled around I have felt the need to tackle each and every thing that is or ever might be on my to do list.

   For example: yesterday I NEEDED to go through each box of clothes that the boys have grown out of/are waiting to grow into and sort, refold, and finally put them all back into boxes. Unfortunately, the end result is now something like this due to the fact that I have a ton of stuff to donate, and I have yet to decide where to store said boxes.

    I also finally attacked the pile of fabric that was waiting to  be turned into pillow covers. My previous covers (seen here) were a bit "spring-y" for me right now (yup that's a word), and I really wanted something a bit more subdued.

The floral fabric is a Pottery Barn curtain that I found at a thrift shop and the yellow patterned fabric is the stuff I bought way back here and have been waiting to decide just what to do with it.

I am pretty sure I am going to make some more, but haven't found any more fabric that I am in love with just yet. Besides everything I do is pretty much a constant work in progress.

Speaking of works in progress- I messed with some fall do-dads on the mantle as well.

I am pretty sure that all of this energy is going to leave any day now, and that my husband with literally have to drag me out of bed every morning. I am just trying to use it while I have it.

lately

Here are some of the things that I have been doing while the kids were sleeping or happy playing by themselves:

When I saw this guy at the thrift store, I just had to have him. I saw past the ugly brown and black and the years of dust that the poor thing had collected. I saw something amazing. For $10 there was no way I was leaving without him. So I took him home, took out my can of white, high gloss and in about 10 minutes I had something lovely.

 The one below is the West Elm owl table lamp. I think mine looks just as good. (but i might be a bit prejudice)

 Keeping with the owl theme, I found a few different cuddly owl pals that I liked on Etsy

and made my own pattern based on the lot of them. This one was for West's birthday a few weeks ago, and I love him. West likes to lay on him like a big pillow. It's kinda cute. I wish I had a picture of it.

 And lastly, the mister has been after me to replace some pillows that I had gotten rid of from the living room. Apparently it isn't as comfortable to lie down without a pillow or two. I made a pair of covers in the green fabric and am currently experimenting wih the rosettes on the smaller one. I like that they are off center a kinda silly looking. It's backed in floral fabric that matches the green pillows. They will do for now, but I have a few projects that I want to get started on now that the weather is pretty. These will either stay or be replaced depending on what fabric I end up using for the other projects.



get your knee pads

   There are very few times when I am at home with all three boys that I actually get some time to myself. Most of those times involve a locked door, a bathtub full of steaming hot water, a magazine and something hot to drink. Last night, however, I found myself treasuring the hour I spent on my hands and knees scrubbing the kitchen floor. Laugh if you want, but don't knock it until you have tried it. Few things in life are as good for the soul as taking out everything on the gross tile covered kitchen. It's like free therapy and you get a squeaky clean floor as a bonus.

   For the 60 minutes that I was scrubbing away that days lunch of bananas and dinner of veggie stew, I could think about anything I wanted. I had zero guilt because I was actually doing something quite important and I felt so stinkin' good by the time I was done that I was actually tempted to tackle the living room as well. (I didn't)

  My small piece of advice for the day: give yourself a good hour and scrub a floor on your hands and knees. You will thank me later when all of your stress and negative thoughts have worked their way right out with all of the grime.

*Mrs. Meyers all purpose cleaner is amazing and definitely worth the extra dough if you're going to be up close and personal with your bucket of cleaner for that long. My favorite is the lemon verbena

hello, hello

Here are some of the pictures from our lovely week and weekend!

Stephen had Thursday off and took off Friday to spend with us. We played in the yard. Harry helped his daddy do some lawn work while I worked on getting some things in the house put together. It is starting to feel more like home (more on that later).

We spent the majority of Friday in downtown eating yummy chocolate from Chocolate Fetish, wandering around cute little shops and side streets. I got my hair cut (FINALLY). We had some AMAZING shrimp at a cute little pub but I can't remember the name of it now!

The day ended playing around in a tiny little city park listening to a drum circle and watching high schoolers with a hacky sack. (Harry liked it...)

Saturday and Sunday were so nice and low key! Stephen went to the Appalachian State game, while the boys and I went looking for a pull out couch (our future guest accommodations). We didn't find one... oh well.

By the time Stephen got home we were all pretty beat.

Sunday we went to Asheville again to visit a church. We were super surprised to see some friends from some time ago sitting across the aisle. They were visiting some other friends that weekend and had no idea we had moved...

small world.

It was such a nice weekend. We are all relaxed and rested and ready to tackle a new week of cleaning, laundry, work, projects, playing super hard and naps.

dead battery

I have lost my poor battery charger. Sooo... any and all pictures that I had to put up this  week will just have to wait.

I am working on some pretty things for the holidays. Harry has been a pirate all day. Westley is sleeping by himself for the first time in about a week. (poor stuffed up kid)

work in progress

This is going to be my new fall wreath. It's still got a ways to go, but I found a bit of time to work on it while the boys were napping. I really like the color combination. The flowers are just a bit of an old t-shirt and some felt scraps. I am on the lookout for a few more accents, but I think it will stay pretty plain. Just thought I would give you a sneak peak at what I have been up to while the boys sleep.
